James Lever rope and twine manufacturers was established by the first James lever in 1856. Cotton bindings collected from the mills around Bolton were transformed into sturdy rope and sold back to the mills as transmission ropes. From there the business grew and moved to the Everlasto Rope Works in Delph Street..

As mill machinery became more sophisticated, with less dependency on rope transmission drive James Lever learned the first rule of a successful business, versatility.
The subsequent generations of Levers branched out into manufacturing a diverse range of products including plaited cords, a full range of twines and sash cords. In 1953 a new product was introduced by James Lever to the UK - the PVC clothes line. Everlasto ‘Orient’ clothes lines remain the UK brand leader.

Today James Lever manufacture and supply a wide range of string and twine products across the UK, throughout Europe and the world. With over 150 years of manufacturing ropes, twines, string and related products James Lever have the range of skills and knowledge to produce quality products.
